Marshall Fisher, retail professor at Wharton, was asked questions about his most recent book, “The New Science of Retailing.” Included is some history about the changes that have occurred in the retail industry over the past 40 years – a good overview for students of the fashion industry.
The YouTube video here shows the conversation or access the video, audio podcast or edited text version of the conversation at the Knowledge@Wharton website.
I have been teaching at the Fashion Institute of Technology for eleven years - hard to believe. Prior to that I was a buyer, planner, product developer, and department manager for a variety of retail organizations.
In my teaching capacity, I primarily teach bachelor degree students interested in careers in buying and planning. My focus is on helping them to gain as much hands on experience in the classroom as possible so they can secure good executive track positions in industry upon graduation.
In addition, I will be launching a sustainability course for fashion merchandising student in the spring 2012 semester!
I am also a licensed tour guide for New York City (DCA).
