If you have time between now (April 13) and July 13, 2008 I would suggest a visit to the Brooklyn Museum to see the Murakami Exhibit.
The exhibition shows the blurring between art, consumerism, and retail…in fact there is a Louis Vuitton retail store in the middle of the exhibition that sells objects that are the result of collaboration between Takashi Murakami and Marc Jacobs.
Check out the Murakami link under Culture NYC and the related videos on YouTube from my VodPod link.

On April 25, 2008 FIT will be hosting our first Technology Day. Much of the day will be dedicated to Second Life but the last session of the day should be of particular interest to faculty and students in FIT’s school of Business and Technology.
The session title is: Preparing the next generation of industry executives for the next generation of marketing tools: YouTube and more
The Moderator will be Susan Reda: Executive Editor, Stores Magazine
Panelists we have enlisted are:
Kathy Savitt, Chief Marketing Officer, American Eagle Outfitters
David Polinchock, Founder and Chief Experience Officer, Brand Experience Lab
Susan Reda wrote the cover article for the February issue of Stores Magazine titled “Do You Tube?” Managing the Next Media Channel” that explores YouTube and other forms of social media (Facebook and MySpace) as the next generation of marketing tools for building brand awaremenss and generating sales growth.
Kathy Savitt has tapped into the media and technology savvy of the American Eagle Outfitters customer by orchestrating the launch of 77e on the American Eagle website. As Chief Marketing Officer, Savitt has been instrumental in the company’s foray into this and other forms of social media to elevate awareness of the American Eagle brand and increase visitor traffic and sales on the American Eagle website.
David Polinchock and his company Brand Experience Lab stand on the cutting edge of a new generation of marketing technology with a paradigm shift from advertising to experiencing. Polinchock and Brand Experience Lab help companies generate excitement and momentum for their brand as they look toward the future, foster creativity within their organization and engage the customer with emerging technologies.
